Arise: Chapter 1: Wide Awake

When you believe that things can stay calm, the world around you seems to arise to the situation. And when the world arises, all hell breaks free from it's chains.

(Kriss's POV)

I stare over at Cody. My god he missed out a good opportunity with me. But his girlfriend treats him right. His dreamy eyes smile over at Leifa's, and just keeps speaking to him, in doubt.
Dan and Karen seem to be getting along. Too bad she's the landlord and he's the simple house renter. Nothing too spectacular with them really.

Whoops I forgot, I'm Kriss. I'll just stand behind the camera. You'll be fine.
"Cody, man, you need to liven up! The trees are singing your name! Join me when I meditate tomorrow." Tre's calming voice whispered to him. God, she's such a greenie.

"Maybe not. I'm gonna be working out 24/7."
"Dan, darling, please don't forget your rent. We wouldn't want any of that nonsense."

"Uhm, rent isn't due into next week." Dan spat out, in his usual sarcastic tone.
Meanwhile, my great friend Sylvia was out on the town. A typical thing in her world. I mean, her mind set, really. She's the life of a party.

But really, she's the life of Moonlit Falls. Everyone stands up to talk to her, and everyone who doesn't get's upset soon after. Even a ghost has the guts!
Back at home, everyone was settling in as usual. Not much fun moving in really. But here's where our story picks up.
"In recent news," the TV news reader spoke, clanking down at his cards, "a terrible out break has occurred around the graveyard. Not only are the dead arising, but their bodies are scaring away the town. They...are...blood-red..."

I nearly gasped. I nearly cried.

What's going on?

Dan and I called the others over. They needed to see this story. The dead was arising, and they were another fork in the road.
Sylvia called me up soon after, and she'd heard it all too.

We need to find answers.
Or else the dead could become the future.

"Oh my god, darlings, what are these threats all over the news! They're scaring my poor innocent mind."

"Karen, why are you still here? You don't even live here!" Cody spat out. I felt like slapping him. How rude.
We were just sitting ducks right now. I couldn't figure out what to do, really. The others probably don't care, to be honest.
"Kriss, what's wrong? You look like you're about to cry or worse." Ayana, my dear sweet friend who acts like a mother to me, is always the first one to notice anything. She is such a sweetheart, but sometimes she has to but into my own thoughts.
But, the worse was only to come. While we sat at home, Sylvia sat alone, rocking at the Toadstool. She's the kind of person who'd go on an adventure whenever, the kind of person who'd rebel against someone just to have fun, and the kind of person who'd venture to the graveyard to see the dead.

To see the dead rise.

And not only did they rise, but they shocked her to the point of gasping.
Not only were they arising, but they were rising like us.

Blood red us.
